Air Purification Systems for Your Home

By The Air Purifier

Home Air Purification is one way in keeping your friends and family safe from Airborne Allergens & Illness. According to the EPA, the typical air in your home is a top Environmental Hazard.

A high level of Allergens in your home or office can lead to Allergies, Asthma, Cold/Flu Viruses, Sinus Infections & Respiratory Illnesses.

Portable/Room Air Purifiers

A small portable purifier can clean areas up to 100-300 square feet effectively. Medium portable purifiers can clean areas up to 300-699 square feet. A large purifier is from 700-1999 square and Extra large Scrubber can clean 2000 plus square feet.

A portable purifier can be easily moved to any room you want cleaned making them very versatile. Filters might only need to be replaced every 5 years and require periodic cleaning like vacuuming out once a month.

Whole House Air Purification System

A Whole House air purifier installs on your furnace or air handler out of sight to remove airborne particles through your HVAC system. It works in unison with your HVAC system by distributing clean air throughout your entire house by way of your ductwork.

They also trap Allergens like Pollen, Dust, dust mites, mold spores, ragweed and pet dander. Plus Bacteria, Viruses, Germs and Smoke. Very low maintenance and can clean homes up to 5000 square feet, depending on which model you purchase.

Are Air Purifiers good for Your Health

If you suffer from Allergies and Asthma, they can filter out those allergens which can trigger an attack. Allergens in your home can lead to:

  • Sneezing
  • Coughing & Dry mouth
  • Watery, itchy, and burning eyes
  • Plugged and runny nose (postnasal drip)
  • Sore and Scratchy Throat
  • Plugged and Itchy Ears
  • Headaches, Dizziness & Fatigue
  • Skin irritations and rashes
  • Respiratory and Sinus Infections

Air Purification Benefits

They can filter out dangerous allergens as small as .03 microns including large particles like Dust Mites (Feces), Bacteria & Viruses, Mold Spores, Pet Dander, Pollen & Ragweed, Smoke (Cigarettes & Fires) and VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) and Gaseous pollutants.

How do Air Purifiers Work?

It will depend on the type of air purifier and which technologies they use. Some air cleaners use a fan and trap very small particles in their mechanical filters (HEPA).

Others don’t use filters but will neutralize particles with an electrical charge in the air (Ionic) so they will fall to the ground. Some can even destroy pathogens at their core, so they become harmless to people and pets (UVGI).

Most purifiers will have a Charcoal Filter to absorb gaseous contaminants and odors (Gas Phase). Click here to read more about different types of home air filters.

Do you need an Air Purifier?

Again, if you are suffering from Respiratory health issues explained above, they would probably be a good idea. Most newer homes have furnaces and air conditioning (HVAC) systems that can continuous clean the air practically 24hrs a day.

But if you are still suffering from health problems like allergies and asthma than an air purifier could be the solution to your problem because they can remove a lot more allergens from the air than your HVAC system.

If your home suffers from low humidity you can also use a Air Purifier Humidifier that will put moisture in the air and also clean your indoor air.

Conclusion

There is enough evidence out there that Air Purifiers do work and can contribute to a healthy body. If Hospitals, Schools, and Doctor Offices use them, they must work. Plus, they are relatively inexpensive to run and are worth the cost if you are suffering from allergies & respiratory health problems.
